Let’s welcome spring with a … Snowflake?

And now with the weather warming up, we all start to dream about summer. For a lot of us, those dreams include an annual visit to State Fair Park in August. And guess what? They have recently redesigned their logo. Designers’ reactions have ranged from “kind of a yawner” to “garbage.” Yikes.

It was an in-house job, and according to the press release, “the new brand identification was concepted and developed by the Fair Park’s Creative Director Andrew Kroening with feedback from representatives of the various Fair Park departments.”

Communications Manager Patrice Harris is quoted as saying, the “logo intertwines the iconic snowflake with the letter ‘W’. The ‘W’ design has dual symbolism representative not only of the State of Wisconsin but also the aim of the Fair Park reaching toward the future, which is shown emblematically with the arm of the ‘W’ reaching forward.”

OK, then. Wisconsin AIGA? Your feedback?
